Numerical and Statistical Evaluation of the Performance of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers as Tunnel Lining Reinforcement during Subway Operation

Ground vibrations during train operations have become a serious problem in recent years. Local residents often feel disturbed by the emanating from railroad line. This inconvenience is particularly pronounced loose areas traversed subways. However, improving mechanical properties of tunnels has been subject several studies. Among these works, widely discussed fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) considered as material that can be incorporated into tunnel structure to increase stiffness, durability, and corrosion resistance. function FRP interaction between soil operation scarcely studied. In this study, effectiveness carbon polymers (CFRP) reinforcement lining on ground vibration investigated. For purpose, nonlinear 3D finite element model was developed based subway section Shanghai simulate dynamic behavior system. The moving load modeled transient via DLOAD subroutine, which rail irregularities are taken account. numerical efficiently validated field tests. Then, efficiency using CFRP concrete addition, statistical analysis response depending bars presented, evaluated, discussed.
